A Mother’s Love, Held Together

Motherhood doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.

Sometimes it’s a parent doing everything they can to hold life together. Sometimes it’s another family stepping in to care for a child for a season. And sometimes, it’s both—woven together in ways that protect, support, and restore.

When Brianna was first referred to Samaritas for family preservation services, life felt uncertain.

She was raising her son on her own, without stable employment, reliable transportation, or the support system many parents depend on. Like so many mothers, she wasn’t lacking love—she was carrying more than anyone should have to carry alone.

And when that weight builds, it can put everything at risk.

For some families, that’s the moment when children may need to spend time in foster care—safe, supported, and surrounded by people who step in when parents need time to rebuild.

At Samaritas, foster care is never the end of the story.

It is a bridge.

A place where children can feel safe and cared for, while parents like Brianna are given the support, time, and resources they need to regain stability.

And with that support, everything can begin to change.

  • Brianna found a job.
  • She earned her driver’s license.
  • She began pursuing her nursing degree.

Step by step, she built a future—not just for herself, but for her son.

Today, they are thriving together.

Stories like Brianna’s are a reminder that behind every moment of uncertainty is an opportunity for care to show up in different

forms. A mother working to rebuild. A foster parent opening their home. A community willing to walk alongside both.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate all the ways care shows up.

  • The mothers who keep going, even when it’s hard.
  • The foster parents who step in when needed most.
  • And the shared commitment to ensuring every child has a safe place to land—and a path back home when possible.

Because when support surrounds a family, love has the chance to hold everything together.
