One Size Doesn’t Fit All
Foster care doesn’t always look the way people expect it to.
Sometimes it’s a child stepping into a new home for a season.
Sometimes it’s a parent working to rebuild what feels uncertain.
And sometimes, it’s both—connected by a shared hope for what comes next.
When families enter the child welfare system, the weight can feel overwhelming.
Parents face the fear of separation.
Children adjust to new routines, new spaces, and new emotions.
Foster families step in, offering patience, care, and stability when it’s needed most.
But at Samaritas, no one is meant to walk that road alone.
Because foster care is not the end of the story.
It is a bridge.
A bridge that connects children, parents, and foster families—each playing a role in creating stability, healing, and a path forward.
Christle knows what that can look like.
When her son’s foster family took him to Kalahari for the first time, it could have been a moment filled with loss. Watching someone else create memories with your child is not easy.
But Christle saw something else.
“I bet you he would have an amazing time,” she said. “It would be an amazing time for him to experience that.”
In that moment, she chose her son’s joy.

It was a quiet kind of strength—the kind that puts love first, even when it’s hard.
And it reflected something deeper: what can happen when foster parents and birth parents choose to work together, not apart.
Today, Christle and her son are back together, continuing to rebuild their future one step at a time.
Like many families, the journey isn’t over. Stability takes time. But they are moving forward—together.
Her story is a reminder that reunification doesn’t happen in isolation.
It takes a village.
A foster family willing to open their home.
A parent willing to keep going.
And a community willing to walk alongside both.
Because when that kind of support surrounds a family, healing has a place to begin—and love has the chance to hold everything together.
