Welcoming refugees looking for hope and a fresh start with support that helps them find housing, work and become contributing members of the community. Samaritas is Michigan's leading refugee resettlement agency, and our staff understands the challenging journey refugees undertake, often fleeing persecution or violence.
Without the option to return to their home country, Samaritas prepares refugees with programs that integrate them seamlessly into Michigan’s workforce and the communities in which they reside.
Available Services
Case Management
- Aid to achieve self-sufficiency and seamless cultural integration
- Assistance with applying for benefits such as health insurance, emergency funds, and food assistance
- Assistance with finding employment
- Translation/Interpretation assistance as needed
Employment Preparation
- Assistance with creating a resume, job application, and preparing for job interviews
- Guidance in obtaining employment authorization documents
- Help obtaining educational degrees, licenses, and certifications from the client’s country of origin
- Assistance in getting professional credentials validated from accredited educational institutions
Social Adjustment Services
- Financial literacy
- Assistance with obtaining Permanent Residency Cards, Naturalization/ Citizenship Documents
- One-on-one support concerning American cultural expectations and traditions
- Assistance in understanding the client’s community, including housing, neighborhoods, local grocery stores, public transportation, and more
- Support in understanding important documents/communications they receive, including bills, MDHHS communications, school communications, etc.
Eligiblity
Samaritas serves all Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) eligible populations across Michigan, excluding Ingham and Washtenaw counties.
